Chaplain Corps Cadet Program:
A Comprehensive Guide
Answering the Call for the Next Generation
In a world facing complex challenges, there is a profound need for leaders guided by compassion, anchored in faith, and committed to service. The Chaplain Corps Cadet Program is our answer to this call, established to intentionally prepare the next generation of spiritual front-line responders. This program is dedicated to motivating and equipping young individuals with Christian valor, spiritual fortitude, and a deep-seated understanding of selfless service. By providing a structured, mentored pathway into the world of chaplaincy, we aim to cultivate a legacy of servant leadership that will strengthen our communities for generations to come.
Purpose, Mission, and Vision
Our Purpose To mentor and develop young men and women (ages 15-17) in the foundational principles of Christian chaplaincy. We are committed to fostering their spiritual maturity, building unimpeachable character, and instilling a lifelong commitment to serving others in the name of Christ, particularly within the demanding environments of law enforcement, firefighting, and veteran communities.
Our Vision To empower the younger generation to be the hands and feet of Christ in a tangible and impactful way. We envision a premier youth development program where cadets actively engage in specialized training, serve their communities with distinction, and grow into confident, compassionate, and resilient servant leaders, fully prepared for a future in ministry.
Our Mission To provide interested and eligible youth with meaningful, hands-on access to the chaplaincy ministry within a controlled, safe, and spiritually enriching environment. The program is carefully designed to align with each cadet’s individual capacity, spiritual gifts, and ministry interests, ensuring a positive, formative, and deeply impactful experience.
Our Standard of Excellence
Credentialing within the Corps, and by extension the Cadet Program, is open to those whose religious background, biblical standards, and operational programs align with the governing body of the fellowship. We are unwavering in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, faith, and service.
Core Values
All cadets and participating chaplains are expected to embody and uphold these core values:
- Integrity: To be honest, trustworthy, and morally upright in all actions and words. To live a life that is consistent with our faith, both in and out of uniform.
- Compassion: To show genuine empathy, kindness, and a desire to alleviate the suffering of others, reflecting the love of Christ.
- Service: To embrace a “servant’s heart,” placing the needs of others before our own and seeking opportunities to help without expectation of reward.
- Faith: To be rooted and grounded in the Christian faith, relying on God for strength, wisdom, and guidance in all aspects of life and ministry.
- Discipline: To demonstrate self-control, respect for authority, and a commitment to personal and spiritual growth and excellence.
How the Program Works: A Mentorship Model
The Chaplain Corps Cadet Program is built upon a foundation of direct mentorship and parental guidance, ensuring a safe, effective, and personalized learning environment.
Eligibility and Supervision:
Students aged 15 to 17 are eligible to serve in the Cadet Program, provided that one or more of their parents or legal guardians is a licensed and active Chaplain in good standing with the Corps.
Chaplain Cadets serve under the direct and constant supervision of their Chaplain parent or guardian during all ministry activities. This means the supervising parent must be physically present and actively engaged with the Cadet at all times during their service. This model ensures real-time teaching, protection, and guidance.
Role and Authority:
Cadets function as an extension of their parent Chaplain’s license and do not hold their own independent credentials. Their activities are legally and spiritually covered as part of the parent’s ministry.
This unique structure allows Cadets to safely observe, learn, and assist in a variety of chaplaincy settings. It provides invaluable, real-world experience while ensuring they are protected and guided by a seasoned professional who is personally invested in their well-being.
Application and Selection Process
Entry into the program is selective, ensuring that candidates are prepared for the commitment.
- Inquiry: The interested youth and their Chaplain parent submit an initial inquiry form.
- Application Packet: A full application packet is provided, which includes forms for personal information, a short essay by the applicant on their desire to serve, parental consent and liability waivers, and a recommendation letter (from a non-family member, such as a pastor or teacher).
- Interview: The applicant and their parent/guardian will participate in an interview with the program coordinator to discuss expectations, answer questions, and assess the applicant’s maturity and readiness.
- Acceptance: Successful candidates will receive a formal letter of acceptance and information on orientation and uniform procurement.
