When Seconds Count, Our Promise Must Be Kept
Every day, the firefighters of Pizarrete make a silent promise to us. It’s a promise to leave their families at a moment’s notice, to face the unknown, and to stand as the last line of defense between our community and catastrophe. They promise to be there.
Today, we must ask ourselves: what is the value of a promise if it isn’t backed by action?
Right now, the promise our firefighters make is being broken by the very equipment they rely on. The truck that should be racing towards an emergency might struggle to start. The gear that should be a firefighter’s shield against a 1,000-degree inferno is worn thin. The tools needed to cut a family out of a mangled car are outdated and slow.
In an emergency, help is not measured in minutes; it’s measured in seconds. The difference between a daring rescue and a devastating loss is the time it takes to get water on a fire, to get clean air into a firefighter’s lungs, or to get a life-saving tool into their hands.
We can no longer ask them to uphold their promise while we fail to uphold ours.
This event is our chance to make things right. Our mission is direct, tangible, and will have an immediate life-or-death impact. We are raising funds for one essential, modern firetruck and the critical protective equipment and tools to outfit two full crews for the Pizarrete Fire Department.
